Medicaid Outreach Coordinators Help Thousands of Residents
Since June of 2023, Feeding Louisiana's Medicaid Outreach Coordinators have worked hard to reach Medicaid recipients who were at risk of losing their medical coverage. Although this grant ends this month, the impact the Coordinators have had on Medicaid recipients will carry on into the future. To celebrate their achievements in assisting with Medicaid Unwind, we're highlighting how they've helped Louisianans stay connected to life-saving healthcare.
Ending Hunger Together: Day at the Capitol
On March 27th, Feeding Louisiana and the Louisiana Anti-Hunger Coalition spent the morning at the Capitol to raise awareness of hunger in our state. Together, community members and hunger advocates from across Louisiana helped emphasize the urgency of protecting the programs and organizations that work to support our neighbors facing food insecurity. A press conference was held on the steps of the Capitol, followed by a chance to weigh in on legislation that impacts critical anti-hunger initiatives in Louisiana.
Event attendees showed up wearing orange shirts to stand in solidarity for those who face hunger and to raise awareness of this important issue.
Feeding Louisiana Launches SNAP Assistance Call Center
Nourish Line is a call center that's appropriately named for the services it provides. Feeding Louisiana launched Nourish Line last February to assist community neighbors with the SNAP application process, which can often be cumbersome and overwhelming to those needing services. Make a Difference This Tax Season
Louisiana state taxes must be filed before May 15th. Consider making a contribution to Feeding Louisiana when you file your taxes this year. Look for item #8 "Louisiana Food Bank Association" on Schedule D of Form IT-540. Marking this line item will help feed families throughout our state.
